What is your opinion about the unemployment of engineering graduates?

First its very long and second its personal opinion,so show some empathy.
1.Lack of Interest/knowledge :-
Most of the students taking admission in engineering colleges are following the masses action (everyone is doing it so why shouldn't I) or because of parental pressure. People have no interest about the field, and opt for something in which they have no knowledge. These two combination makes you graduate after four years not engineer. ( those who know/love to solve problems and have keen interest) So in the end an unemployed engineer who will change his stream after four years. Like banking, passion, photography, actor, comedian, management, government services, etc. Lack of interest leads to lower in happiness index (one of many reason of lower rank in happiness index)
2.Not so good colleges :-
I'm not gonna degraded well funded Govt institutes (Faculty, infrastructure, and opportunities makes them little different), Its about those institutes whose name is either on some God figure, or self made god, or some grand parent, or some holy thing like devi, baba, Sant, mahatma college of engineering, These institutes are made for either making black money into white or an assets of big business house (lala) to create safe source of income. They don't give the shit about children's future, or their life. All they want is fee and after that Oh! You are from our college!
3.Static Curriculum (Over dated):-
Most of the curriculum of engineering academic is over dated (I'm talking about Private colleges of tier 3 or 4) and you can't expect industries to recruit you on the bases of your expired knowledge (like C in Turbo and Hand made drawings, no new learning, coding's for computer branch, machines for mechanical branch, roads, buildings for civil- that's their entire knowledge starts-ends ), even though the Aicte never take interest in updating the syllabus, those who teach the same subject 20 years ago, are still teaching it with same knowledge, same questions, same notes without any update. (Like SOM, FM, Electronics-basics are same but what is going on in this field)
Even though for elective, there is no option, you have to study that subject whose faculty is available not what you opt. And in four years you are gonna pass the 56 majors( like a pro), 112 minors(of no help), 34 Labs(Of no use), 2 projects(one minor and other major), 1 internship( no one guide for more), unaccountable seminars and zero skill. All you have learned in these four years is, how to pass the exam without study. No labs have proper equipment, if have they are outdated, If not no instructor. What ever you are learning is just to pass the exam not acquiring the knowledge to solve problems. In the age of AI, they dictate you their notes which are copied from a book or sometime directly from a book.
4.Our Ancestors legacy and Industries in limited area.
Before industry aspect, let me explain a little about Indian industry's history, since after the independence India adopts the planned closed economy inspired of USSR(and that cheeky Gandhian plan), so during those years we focus on agriculture majorly (and failed drastically) and since then there is no market which will develop the industries or create competition or skilled labor force, which ultimately makes India underprivileged country which depended on foreign countries for heavy industries or its development, what it mean is Govt controlled companies have lesser chances of development as compared to private companies;
The other thing was uneducated, arrogant, ignorant, narrow minded people (Yes! I mean it). Majority of the people lives in past and didn't broad mind of thinking about future, developing their business units, making their product better, take risks, develop their techniques or modernize themselves, take less interest in making children (reason of growth in population) and more in learning new things, become entrepreneur, guide masses for better life, educate themselves, start their small business unit into big MNCs.
It was only after 1990s reform that India was able to stand with world economy as we go for liberalization, globalization and privatization competition, which in sense create competiton, brings FDI, FII, which brings the foundation of present Indian silicon valley, strong financial market and after that India starts growing, people starts earning good wages, In simple terms we opened our economy in 90s and in these 27+ years we make quite an achievement, but this growth is more likely limited to the metro cities, and the rest of the country is still struggling and that's why everyone goes for metro cities for jobs.
(there are others aspects too).
The other thing is Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, etc. these are the only places where one will find MNCs, IT sector, Industrial sector fully developed so only limited area have proper industrial sector no very state or city is properly developed.
5.Narrow Minded thinking.
One may not be agree with this but the truth is, we Indians are narrow minded yeah that's right, Now let me explain this One get into the engineering college for a good job only, there's no one who want to learn, everyone wants a job asap, better if it is in foreign or Govt sector, Everyone wants to work for higher wages and no one have interest in studying further and solve the problems of society like doing research work in their fields( wasting Govt resources and doing nothing of it is not research,) creating plans for Govt to utilize the resources (doing some work for easing present situation) , develop some product(invent something which would benefit the common people), solve peoples' daily life problems (writing a paper is not research if it doesn't benefit common people directly or indirectly)
If someone is not agree with me take examples of those who went abroad for better education and settle their, working for big MNCs, Doesn't they suppose to work for their own country( ops its their life). One who is studying in abroad, wants jobs too asap and settle their; they are studying for MNCs not for the country's benefits; they never think about their country's need and never help their institutes to develop with their skills knowledge(alumni's donation system) .Its their life after all, who I am to judge! (Not begging for their money, it was their duty nothing else).
Parents want that their child earn after gradation and must not serve the country after all only thing in life is to marry and start making children. Even if they will support you, what bout society, relatives, and those uncles, aunts whose son/daughter is earning 6 figures. I think IIT pass out must serve country because they study on country's tax payers money and resources, so its their duties and jobs were supposed to left over for tier II or III college students to get an opportunity for better future because they don't have IIT brain. Just an observation because company's need workers not better brains. ( can be wrong here, so Judge me !)
6.Underemployed Engineers.
One can argue with this but the harsh reality is more than 95% engineers are underemployed i.e. not employable. They spend their four crucial years on getting the degree only, most of them passed the engineering and are of no use that's why the private sector is not giving them jobs and in Govt sector all engineers are founding these days, The competition level of government jobs these days is on the extreme level as most of the engineers are on these topic recently. Jut Google bank, Govt job and you will get a lot of websites, you tube channels totally dedicated for these underemployed/unemployed youths. The shops of coaching institutes/online learning sites are on boom these days because of unemployed or underemployed youth.
7.Student's Attitude and faculty's qualification.
If you go to any institute most of the students are either bunking the classes or having fun in canteen or on the tour with friends, most of them don't show any learning attitude.
At first, its not student's mistake because during the first year of college most of them are hyper active and enthusiastic about learning , but the so called faculty in all of these baba's colleges have really some attitude problem especially in TIER III or IV colleges because of their incompetent knowledge, skill, under qualification and thinking of themselves as some powerful creature, They not only destroy the student's moral but harsh them upto their pass out, and even when most of them(teachers) are struggling themselves. They have no moral of a teacher, to guide, to help in right direction. So uneducated kid comes out of uneducated engineer.
There may be more reasons but I'm tires so,
That's all folks!
